I wrote briefly about the Edinburgh Food Social’s Crowdfunder in the round-up March’s salon event, but thought it best to write a little more expansively about it as it’s a project very worthy of your attention, as it enters the final few days of their funding drive.
The brainchild of Eleanor and Will from the Edinburgh Larder, a place I adore and recommend regularly, the Edinburgh Food Social aims to work with schools to make local food more accessible in Scotland.
This will involve awareness raising and sharing of the compelling food stories we have across our community, but also a practical strand around developing people’s cooking skills.
At the heart of this new social enterprise will be a food truck to take the message to the schools they are working with and remove a primary barrier to accessing the local goodness on our doorstep.
This builds upon cooking skills training already delivered in several primary schools in Edinburgh with outstanding results.
This is precisely the kind of thing that Scotland needs right now. Take the first steps on your journey to getting more involved by backing this project and being part of the force for change.
