It was a great pleasure to mark our birthday in the fine surroundings of Akva with glorious company and tasty treats. The kitchen at Akva had baked us a cake that was only rivalled by the lighter than air sponge delights of the cake that the divine Strumpets had baked, too.
The audience was warmly appreciative of both as a party’s not a party without at least two cakes…
Adding to the culinary delights we had delicious beetroot dip and Mungoswells flour crackers from saloneer Viv.
For speaker input we heard about saloneer Brendan MacNeill’s upcoming photography exhibition – 21 February to 6 March – at Creative Exchange, 29 Constitution Street, Edinburgh EH6 7BS. It’s a must-visit.
Then our main speaker of the evening was the wonderful Mrs Mash, aka Marie Louise Cochrane.
Having recently launched the Mrs Mash Ministry of Soup, the salon audience’s help was enlisted in filling out questionnaires and sharing ideas for how we promote soup as a great staple of a nutritious diet with the people of Scotland. There was no shortage of enthusiasm for the soupy tales.

And that was that. Thanks again to all of our contributors and to everyone who joined on the evening. Many people stayed on and took an active part in the #scotfood chat so that was good to see.
